Whether you are looking for a piece of furniture for your home or office, you want furniture that you’ll love, is well-built, and fits your style and functional needs. If you can’t find that at one of the many furniture stores in Lancaster County, there is another option: custom-built furniture.
Love Your Furniture with Custom-Built Furniture
We are not talking about the furniture kits you put together from a big box store, nor are we talking about furniture built by a DIY woodworker. At Cedars Woodworking, our team of craftsmen are skilled in fine woodworking techniques that have been perfected over hundreds of years. When we combine these skills with advanced technology like our CNC machine, we can produce custom, one-of-a-kind furniture that you’ll love for decades to come.
One advantage of this hybrid approach to woodworking is that we can add highly detailed accents that would be hard to replicate in manufactured furniture. Take for instance, the details on this office suite we built: the desk and matching credenza feature a solid wood top, clean white drawers, and intricate inlays on the sides and top of the pieces.
Raised Inlay on Drawers
For the filing cabinet drawers, we addeda raised inlay with two parallel strips of wood. To add these inlays, we used the CNC machine to carve out precise grooves into the face of each drawer. Not only that, we had the machine continue the grooves to the sides of each drawer for a wraparound look.
Table Top Inlay
Adding recessed inlays into a table top is a great way to add style and sophistication to furniture. But the process to create an inlay can be time-consuming – especially for an intricate design across a large surface.
For this office set, we used our CNC machine to route the grooves in the table top. Once that was complete, our woodworkers cut and installed the inlay in these precise grooves.
Modern Furniture Design and Building
This project is a great example of our custom furniture building techniques used here at Cedars Woodworking. We consider ourselves a 21st century woodworking shop, combining technological advancements like CAD designing and CNC machining with traditional fine woodworking skills.
This mindset applies to the rest of our woodworking services, from our home renovation, custom millwork, or finishing service. We rely on experience, skill, and technology to provide stunning results in an efficient manner.
