At Cedars Woodworking, it isn’t uncommon for our team to address the question, “What do I do if my antique furniture is missing a piece?” Our trained woodworking professionals know that preserving the original piece and finish is the most important thing that can be done for an antique. When our team addresses the issue of missing pieces, often a creative approach is taken so that the new pieces fit with, but can also be removed from the original piece.
A beautiful butler’s desk was brought to us this fall. The desk was missing the interior original drawers and the owner requested that Cedars Woodworking design and build new drawers. The final result is a new set of interior drawers that can be removed from the original piece, but provide stability and functionality to the antique desk. The green felt on the flip down drawer front was also replaced.
Cedars Woodworking is able to replicate other missing pieces on antique furniture. Using our CNC Machine and our craftsmen’s woodworking skills, we are able to replace pieces such as arms, legs, carvings, drawers, scrolled parts, and other replacement parts.
